How does this compare to a human receptionist?

How long does setup take?

What do I need to provide for setup?
We’ll need access to your phone system for call forwarding, your calendar tool, CRM access if applicable, and your approved scripts/FAQs.
Do I need new phone numbers?
No. We connect to your existing business number. Calls forward to the AI line only when needed (e.g., no answer after 20 seconds, or after hours).
Can the AI transfer calls to me or my team?
Yes. Calls can be transferred directly to designated staff or departments. If you don’t answer, the caller can leave a voicemail or continue with the AI.
What happens after hours?
Calls can automatically forward to the AI receptionist after hours so your customers always get an answer.
Can I customize the script or responses?
Yes. You can provide your scripts, company knowledge, FAQs, and escalation rules. We’ll load them into the AI so callers get accurate answers in your brand’s voice.
Does it work with text messaging?
By default it answers calls, but SMS features can be added for certain plans (Receptionist Pro). (E.g., appointment reminders or confirmation texts.)
Are there setup fees?
No. There is no setup fee, your monthly subscription covers everything.
What if I go over my call limit?
Extra minutes are billed at a $2/call overage rate (1 call ~5 minutes). If you’re consistently over, we’ll recommend upgrading to the next plan.
Can I upgrade or downgrade plans later?
Yes, plans are month-to-month unless otherwise agreed. You can adjust up or down as your business needs change.
Do unused calls roll over to the next month?
No, call limits reset each month, but you can upgrade if volume grows.
How reliable is the service?
We target 99% uptime.
What’s your support availability?
Our standard support hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM–6 PM Mountain Time. For urgent issues outside these hours, including weekends, we do our best to respond quickly and provide emergency support or maintenance as needed.
Do you monitor calls for quality?
We provide sample call reviews during onboarding and after go-live. Clients also have access to recordings and transcripts (if enabled) to ensure quality.
Is this HIPAA compliant?
Yes. We can configure additional safeguards if you operate in healthcare. By default, all data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Who owns the call data?
You do. Clients own all caller data, scripts, and business information. We own the platform and underlying AI models.
Can I export my call logs?
Yes. Clients have access to call logs, recordings and transcripts via the client portal. Data can also be deleted if you end the service.
What if the AI makes a mistake?
The AI sometimes mishears or may provide incomplete answers. That’s why you provide approved scripts and escalation rules. Whenever it’s unsure or a flagged topic appears, it can transfer the caller to a human contact.
What if my customers don’t like talking to an AI?
Our agents use professional, natural-sounding voices. Plus, callers can always be transferred to a human contact if they prefer.
Can the AI handle emergencies?
No. The AI is not a substitute for emergency services. If a caller indicates an emergency, it delivers a disclaimer and directs them to dial 911.
Is this a long-term contract?
No, services are month-to-month unless you request a longer term. You can cancel with 30 days’ notice.
